S2:E5: The Senseless Murder of Baby June: "Washed Ashore"

September 08, 2024 Shanetelle B. Season 2 Episode 5

West Palm Beach, Florida----On June 1, 2018, the body of an infant baby girl was found floating in a Boynton Beach Inlet. Detectives checked more than 600 mothers who had given birth in nearby hospitals, but the investigation did not turn up any leads, and there was no record of any mother who had given birth that did not have their baby. Because the infant was discovered on June 1st, the infant was dubbed “Baby June.”

The medical examiner ruled the case a homicide and determined that the infant was no more than 14 days old. She had needle pricks on the heel of her foot and the umbilical cord had been cut. The case went cold for four years, as police hoped that someone would come forward with information regarding who had given birth to Baby June. Investigator’s ran the baby’s DNA through a genetic database that turned up a relative of the father which pointed directly to the infant's mother.
